Use It Up: Food Expiry Tracker · Last updated: 14 October 2026

This policy explains what the Use It Up app ("the app") does with your information. The app is made by Tetra Developers ("we", "us"). Contact: tetraheaddevelopers@gmail.com.

The short version

What the app stores on your phone

This information is kept in the app's private storage. We do not receive it.

Camera and photos

When you choose "Scan expiry date", the app asks for camera access. The text in the photo is read on your device using Google ML Kit text recognition. The photo is shown to you so you can check the result and is not sent to us or saved by the app after you finish.

Notifications

Reminders are created on your phone. They are not sent from a server. You can turn each reminder off in the Profile tab, or in your phone settings.

Purchases

If you start a free trial or subscribe, the payment is handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see your card or bank details. We may use a subscription service provider (such as RevenueCat) to confirm whether Premium is active. That provider may receive an anonymous app user ID and purchase details.

Sign-in and your account

Signing in is optional. You can use the app as a guest without any account. If you choose to sign in with Apple, Google or with email and a password, we use Google Firebase Authentication to do this. Firebase receives and stores your email address, your name, and (for email sign-in) a protected form of your password. Google sign-in gives us your Google account name and email address only. We use this to show your name in the app and to let you sign back in. We do not use it for advertising and we do not sell it.

Your food list is still kept on your phone. It is not sent to our servers in this version. To delete your account and its information, see how to request deletion.

Sharing

We do not sell or rent personal information. We share information only with service providers needed to run features you use (for example, the app stores for payments), or when the law requires it.

Your choices and deleting your data

Children

The app is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Food safety notice

Dates on food labels are a guide. The app only reminds you to check the label and the food. It does not tell you that food is safe or unsafe.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
